Discovering Sydney Differently (and more)
I am the Joanne behind “Travel with Joanne” which aims to discover Sydney differently. Each fortnight I write and post about a new suburb of Sydney that I have researched, walked through, observed closely and photographed while on a day walk through the suburb.
My aim is to encourage others to explore more than the usual tourist sights and get to know what makes the wonderful city of Sydney tick. To date there are more than 45 suburbs listed and so many more to discover.
Sydney covers a large geographic area and there are over 600 suburbs to explore, but I have been north to Palm Beach and Dangar Island and south to Bundeena and Cronulla. Out west, I have explored Windsor and Penrith and, in the east, I’ve been to Watson’s Bay and La Perouse. Of course, there are many suburbs closer to the city that have received my attention.
There are posts that explore lesser known beaches and harbourside walks and posts that highlight multicultural Sydney. Some suburbs are known for their history while others have interesting sculpture to discover.
Tours of Sydney
Besides exploring Sydney’s suburbs, I written up a number of tours in and around Sydney as a guest of those tours.
Feedback I’ve received on tour write ups includes
“That is the best piece I have read on Kadoo Tours. The SMH, the Southern Courier and other bloggers have never done it such justice. So very detailed and accurate. We love it.” Grant Hyde of Kadoo Tours
“Thank you for a great story. Excellent review.” John Pastor, Go Local Tours for Tank Stream tour.
A trip to India to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity was life-changing and deserved a post of its own.
While my main focus is Sydney, I have written many guest posts for www.thebigbus.com.au as well as some for other bloggers.
Discover NSW invited me to contribute to their collaboration on My favourite Place in Sydney at Sunrise.
